Experience Something New – Volunteering!

By Otto On July 20, 2010 Under Arts and Entertainment

Ever thought about volunteering overseas? Perhaps volunteering in Malawi? Popular activities now include volunteering in Mombasa .What about spending part of your gap year on an African adventure? How about combining volunteering in Africa where you can make a positive impact on the lives of some of the poorest people in the world with an adventure holiday where you can go on a safari or climb up one of Africa’s highest mountains. This is your chance to see what Africa has to offer.

It is easy to combine these two aspects of your tip and we strongly recommend it. You deserve a reward after volunteering your hard work to the local communities that need it. We are not saying that your volunteer placement is necessarily hard physical work all the time but in a lot of cases it is emotionally tiring. Africa is one of the best continents in the world to participate in a gap year. There is a wide variety of volunteer opportunities to choice from as well as a vast array of adventure activities.

Although Africa is rich in culture and has a wide range of diversity on the continent, sadly there are many areas most notably on the outskirts of major cities such as Cairo, Nairobi and Cape Town are home to people so poor they cannot afford food, health care and school. These areas are rife with diseases such as HIV and AIDS which is where these areas are home to so many orphaned children. A few weeks spent in these places, helping with volunteering teaching or as a volunteer medical assistant, really can change people’s lives.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime to help the people in Africa who really need it. These are some of the poorest people in the world and they need all the help they can get from volunteers. It is truly inspiring to see the way they live and the positive mental attitude they have aiming to get themselves out of poverty.
