Importance Of Skin In Glamour Images

By Otto On March 1, 2011 Under Arts and Entertainment

Dealing with Glamour Photos, we are focused on depicting our model in the best possible to impress the viewers, and therefore we have to mind every aspect, even her skin – seriously, it matters. One of the points to mind is how much of her body the model would like to expose, and the other one is her skin tone and its impact on exposure, because artistic glamour images need the best exposure possible.

Glamour image does not simply mean snapshot of a naked model, there is an art to glamour images. A beauty photograph has to impress without being pornographic, and it is photographer’s professional duty to not only come to terms with the model about how much she is ready to show, but also make her relaxed and willing to do the job. People are all different – so girls might have various preferences: some are willing to be completely nude, others want to wear sensual garments, and some are good with a “golden middle” – while baring herself, have some intimate regions concealed by shadows. As a professional, you will have to keep those matters in mind.

The other important thing is the skin tone that the model has. Some models are fair, and some are dark. Racial and ethnic diversity gave us a splendid palette of skin tones and complexions: black, white, yellow, brown and others. If you are new to Glamorous Photography, you may be inclined to use the same exposure for depicting all this variety. This will not bring such good outcome as it might if you consider the tones of skin. In order to get the best possible glamour image shots, it is very essential, as a photographer, to differentiate fair complexion with darker ones while making the exposure. Light skin usually calls for narrowing the diaphragm slightly ( stop), as fair complexion tends to reflect light and lose details on the photo; if your model has darker skin tone, it would be wise to open the diaphragm more – again, by somewhat stop. In addition, the region of your exposure also influences the result. If you decided to focus on facial features, then face should be critical for your exposure and your camera settings. This way you will be able to adjust your exposure carefully, based on the chosen body regions, and consequently shoot some astounding glamour pictures.
