Baby Shower Centerpieces to Impress

Baby Shower Invite

If you are the one to host a baby shower, whether for a friend or member of the family, there are many things to incorporate in your planning for the big day. Creating a baby shower centerpiece may need some creativity, but fortunately it can be done at a reasonable price.

Baby Shower Centerpieces – Edible

– Candy Topiaries: These can be made with styrofoam blocks and balls, with either plain or attractively decorated flower pots, cinnamon sticks, candy corn or other not too hard candies, and a glue gun.

– The Watermelon Buggy: If you’re feeling extra creative, carve a watermelon into the shape of a baby buggy or carriage, which actually isn’t as difficult as it first looks, and then fill with all sorts of delicious fruits such as grapes, melon balls, and cherries. You can use cherries and slices of orange in the middle for “hubcaps”, and garnish with lettuce underneath.

Non-Edible Baby Shower Centerpieces

– Baskets: Your nearest discount store may have many baskets to choose from which could be turned into attractive centerpieces. These can be things geared to the Mom-to-be or take home gifts for the guests. Baskets can be just about any container these days, so be creative and think outside the box (basket!).

Some fillers for the basket could include bottles, toys, socks, pacifiers, teethers, lotions, and bath toys, or if the centerpieces are for the guests, add candles, aromatherapy items, coupons for book stores, spas, and hair salons, as well as bubble bath, books, nail polish, chocolates, and useful items for the kitchen.

Baby Sock Roses: You can use plain vases to hold your baby sock roses. Select artificial flowers that fit with your color theme, baby’s breath, wire and some pairs of baby socks in your chosen color. Oh, and don’t forget some greenery as a foil. Each sock should be tightly rolled, with thinner socks working best, by starting from the toe, working towards the opening, and finished by fastening with double sided tape.

You could play around with folding or rolling the socks, in a way that gets the best result for a “petal” appearance, then inserting the wire before wrapping the flower bottoms in green floral tape, prior to arranging in a vase.

– Diaper Cakes and Wreaths: These old favorite baby shower centerpieces are still a good choice today. Just use your talents and imagination to be creative with the design. The idea could be used to make diaper cupcakes, also using either disposable or cloth diapers.

Other ideas could include displaying colored balloons, either on their own or with flowers, or with stuffed animals that look cute to babies. A cute plush toy can be transformed into a centerpiece with imaginative decoration, useing things like bibs, baby blankets, baby bottles and so on.

Cheap and plain flower pots can be decorated in your color choice and then stenciled with attractive designs, displays or even text. Instead of buying costly flowers from a florist, head to the supermarket the morning of the shower and purchase a few seasonal bouquets for a fraction of the price. You can then break down the bouquets and added to the pots, or even displayed singularly, each in a clear glass vase.

Once you have made your decisions on a baby shower centerpiece then you can think about getting organized and sending out those baby shower invitations.
