ATF And FBI Busted A Christian Militia Group

By Otto On September 1, 2010 Under News and Society

Eight members of the Hutaree militia, a Christian militia, were captured by weekend ATF and FBI raids in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, as was reported by the Associated Press. According to federal agents, the people being questioned were planning to kill members of local law enforcement and then to later kill all the other officers attending their funerals. The weekend raids were performed as a way of preventative maintenance.According to the AP, other unaffiliated Christian militia groups like the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia consider the Hutaree militia to be “too extreme.”

What does the Hutaree Christian militia do?

The Hutaree militia Christian’s web site, they claim that members “are prepared to defend all those who belong to Christ and save those who (don’t).” It wasn’t clear whether or not the action plan against law enforcement was or wasn’t in preparation for the Second Coming, but the militia group says that they “will one day see (their) enemy and meet him on the battlefield if so God wills it.” Buying weapons for this battle with payday cash advances would definitely be discouraged.

Being charged from attempted use of WMDs to conspiracy

The AP says that “seditious conspiracy, attempted use of weapons of mass destruction (an Improvised Explosive Device, or IED), teaching the use of explosive materials, and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence,” will be charged to the one Indiana resident, six Michigan residents, and the two Ohio residents. The Department of Justice Press Release and indictment are a part of public records now.

Neighbors had no idea, thought they were “nice”

That may be more indicative of what Robert Frost meant when he wrote that “Good fences make good neighbors” than it speaks for the quality of character among members of this extreme Christian militia known as the Hutaree militia. And speaking of lessons from literature, the Hutaree militia seem to make their extreme interpretation of the Bible one of the ways they are coping with the “New World Order” as they might see it.

What are we to learn from this? If we were to follow the word of literature, we should take Jonathan Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” to heart and eat small children to deal with all the overpopulation. That’s ridiculous, of course, and Swift intended it to be satire. Maybe our modern society would be better off with “1984″ as a model. But wait, that’s the kind of totalitarian regime that Christian militias like the Hutaree militia would contest. And if they chose not to lay down their arms – would it change to a Hutareetocracy? Might “Onward Christian Soldiers” be required to play before you applied for no faxing payday loans?
